Kaspersky, yesterday, celebrated its 25th anniversary and in that spirit, the company announced the launching of the free version of its antivirus software which it will release globally.
Though, the free antivirus has been around for testing at least for year-and-a-half now in selected countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, China and in Nordic countries, it is now out on a worldwide release.
The free antivirus doesn't provide complete features as the full version i.e you are only limited to some essential features like scanning of files, web, and emails, protection of your PC while surfing the web and quarantine of malware that infects your system. So, features like VPN, Online Payment Protection and Parental Controls are not present here unless you upgrade to a premium version.
Also, Kaspersky free antivirus software, which is ads-free, will use the data you contribute to improve machine learning across products.
It will be available in Africa by September, 2017.
